Art, comics, graphic design and web development by the artist: Matthew Taylor
Vector art takes refinement to a new level. Essentially a vector drawing is a series of mathematical instructions describing how an image is made from simple lines, shapes and coloured fills. As the ultimate form of perfection, a vector drawing is resolution independent, this means it can be drawn at any size without requiring any extra information to describe it. It also means you can zoom in indefinitely and the lines will always look perfect!
I really appreciate well-drawn vector images, they capture my attention every time and I find it hard to look away, it's like music to my ears.
Many people create vector images by using one of the many tracing programs available such as CorelTrace and Adobe Streamline. These applications turn bitmapped images into vector shapes... But I just don't like them! Quite often the result is a messy mass of jumbled shapes that have no continuity. Nothing can compare to drawing the shapes by hand, trust me, the difference can be amazing!
